There’s been a recent outpouring of permit requests with the city to operate at 6334 El Cajon Boulevard. The shell of a former guitar store will soon transform into the latest virtual food hall called Aztec Food Hub. Led by LA-based CloudKitchens, their company provides software for restaurants to open new ghost-kitchen locations under a delivery-only business model.

This model has been successfully executed by CloudKitchens near the USC Campus in LA and most recently at Barrio Food Hub in Barrio Logan. Next stop is College Area, targeting SDSU students with over 30 different food options.

How it works is you order your food directly from the Hub website, then pickup or request delivery through your preferred app (UberEats, DoorDash, etc.).

In an age of contactless service options for safety, this elevates your options and access to gourmet food. Another plus to this method is that you can order food from multiple restaurants, to be set from one pick up or delivery location.

Details are slowly becoming available about the new food hub. Barrio Food Hub restaurant Cali BBQ have already announced their involvement with Aztec Food Hub on YouTube. Blue Poke will also join. Other permits have been requested under names like Southern Grocery and Rockito, little is known about what type of cuisine they will offer.

Teasers and memes are now available on Instagram as Aztec Food Hub begins building their community.
