Mr. Fries Man began out of chef Craig Batiste’s home kitchen in Gardena, CA. It wasn’t until the brand had amassed a loyal social media following that they opened their first brick-and-mortar location in 2017.
Since then, Mr. Fries Man has won the hearts of french fry lovers from Inglewood to Utah, serving up everything from basic Chili Cheese fries to the deluxe Lemon Garlic Crab & Shrimp fries.
Now, Mr. Fries Man is venturing South, with its first San Diego location set to open at 4508 Cass St. in Pacific Beach. The restaurant will open this summer, taking the place of Island Style Hawaii BBQ in the historic Dunaway Building.
As of early February, Mr. Fries Man has over 373,000 Instagram followers and counting. Along with his wife Dorothy, chef Craig Batiste has built this business from scratch. As described on their website, “Mr. Fries Man is a family-owned restaurant part of a revolutionary underground foodie frenzy in Los Angeles.”
Another upcoming Dunaway Building tenant is Uncle Chai Thailand Street Food, which What Now San Diego previewed last month.
