The 2,400-square-foot property came equipped with a fully-functional kitchen, bar, plus a second-story seating area, and rooftop patio.

What Now San Diego briefly spoke to co-owner Chris Dainty back in late 2022 to confirm the business but the property was still in escrow. Now social media confirms cosmetic updates have begun inside the University Avenue bar.

While few details have been shared about Key and Cleaver’s food and drink offerings, the restaurant will reportedly serve a meat-forward menu of locally raised beef and burgers.

An opening timeline has yet to be shared. Key and Cleaver is up and running on Instagram, sharing a first look at updates being made to the space.
