Il Posto is headed to South Park, securing a lease for the space formerly occupied by Eclipse Chocolate. Il Posto is a new Italian restaurant concept introduced by the team who brought Maurizio Trattoria Italiana to Encinitas.
Co-Owner Maurizio Carbone tells What Now San Diego Il Posto will allow his team an opportunity for local connection in South Park.
Carbone operates Maurizio Trattoria Italiana along with partners Fabio Montagna and Chef Antonio Pappagallo, who has previous experience working in the South Park neighborhood.
“We’ve been in the business for 11 years in North County. We hope to be a close part of the community in South Park just like Eclipse had been for many years,” says Carbone.
Carbone shares that Il Posto will offer authentic Italian cuisine much like the offerings at Maurizio Trattoria Italiana but with pizza and other new menu items in development by Chef Antonio.
A remodel of the space is planned for June, transforming the Eclipse retail shop and restaurant into Il Posto. Carbone describes the design plans and overall theme of the new restaurant as warm, inviting, not too upscale, and an easy-going atmosphere.
