Grand Comedy Club and Pizzeria is getting ready to relocate within San Diego, moving to a new site in Escondido at 200 E. Via Rancho Parkway.
Owner Adam Wasserman opened the comedy club a few months before the pandemic started and managed to keep the club open throughout the next few years, giving San Diegans a place to laugh and eat delicious pizza. Now, the comedy club owner will move the business’s current location at 340 E. Grand Avenue to the former home of California Pizza Kitchen in the Escondido Mall, according to the Coast News Group. Wasserman hopes to reopen the club and pizzeria by early December 2024.
The establishment is split into two concepts: the Grand Comedy Club and the Grand Pizzeria, right next door. The comedy club offers a place for up-and-coming comedians to perform old or new material while providing them with a foundation before heading to Los Angeles. To support the comedians and patrons, Wasserman has Grand Pizzeria, offering a variety of pizzas that are available in three different sizes and are customizable. The restaurant also offers appetizers, salads, and a couple of desserts. Grand Pizzeria also has a few lunch specials from 11 am to 2:30 pm.
When the business moves to this new location, the pizzeria will expand and also become a sports pub, according to the Coast News Group. The additional space will allow the club to operate seven days a week and offer a more comprehensive range of entertainment options, such as sports, karaoke, and live music. Wasserman is also obtaining a liquor license, allowing for a full-service bar. One reason Wasserman selected this new location is its proximity to Interstate 15. The name will remain the same.
