Having experienced much success at two previous locations, El Tianguis’ owner Oscar Ancira will open a third restaurant in the Civita Community in Mission Valley — a master-planned community where you can eat, shop, and stroll through parks, all in one place. Mission Valley is only minutes away from San Diego International Airport and boasts easy access to everything San Diego has to offer.
According to their website, the vision for El Tianguis, a fast causal restaurant with over-the-counter service, comes from the single-minded goal of serving the very best taquitos you’ve ever had. El Tianguis also aims to recreate the energy of the tianguis, bustling local markets that offer fresh and authentic Mexican cuisine. Step into any El Tianguis location, and you’ll find yourself emersed in the smells and sounds of these vibrant bazaars.
Currently, you can sample five different flavors of taquitos, including Chicken, Beef, and California, which combines shredded beef, potato, and cheese. The menu offers two vegan options as well: Potato and Lentil with Quinoa. Top these taquitos with guacamole and a variety of salsas, and you’re good to go! El Tianguis’ current locations also offer sides and a selection of beverages, as well as delivery and catering options.
Opening day is still at least six months out, but once this new location opens at 3980 9th Avenue, Unit 403 in San Diego, you might just find yourself window shopping or strolling through Civita’s own “central park,” taquito in hand.
