Sal and Pietro Busalacchi, the Owners behind Trattoria Don Pietro which specializes in Sicilian cuisine are now working on a new concept. The Busalacchi’s along with proprietor Gustavo Rios will introduce El Sueño in the familiar community of Old Town, where Trattoria Don Pietro also calls their home.

SanDiegoVille first shared the news about the new restaurant, which is designed to be reminiscent of cartel-powered extravagance. The vibe they’re planning for El Sueño is of a hidden gem amidst the lush jungle of Mexico.

Construction will begin at 2836 Juan Street, a restaurant space formerly occupied by La Pinata. Although located in Old Town, the restaurant will dish out modernized Mexican dishes in an upscale setting.   

Their Instagram account is up and running, teasing their 2022 opening. What Now San Diego spoke with Proprietor Gustavo Rios to confirm their opening will coincide with Cinco de Mayo 2022
