Drunk Confections to Operate Out of The Wine Pub

Like most of us, Amelia Harrar was deep in quarantine mode and craving social interaction last spring when she started Drunk Confections, a liquor dessert shop that offers sweet, boozy confections in the form of mini and custom made cakes.

“[Drunken Confections was] basically born because I wanted to make people happy; I thought what’s a way that I can show a little love without spreading covid,” Harrar told What Now San Diego. The bakery began, unofficially, about a year ago as something she did for friends, and more officially about four months ago.

Harrar’s cakes have names like ‘The Boozy Bunny,’ ‘Candle or Cake??’ and ‘The Lowkey Eff 2020.’ “I just invent a new cocktail-inspired dessert every week or every other week,” Harrar said when explaining how her menu rotates. These mini-cakes come in rotating flavor profiles, while her standard sized cakes can be custom ordered.

So far some big hitters are the Julio and Key Lime Pie, both cocktail-inspired items. “Every cake is named after one of my friends,” Harrar added. The Julio or the Skrewball Cake, a crowd pleaser that Harrar was just delivering when she spoke with What Now San Diego, is a chocolate-peanut butter confection filled with Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey Reese’s Mash and drenched in Melted Reese’s chocolate.

Soon the bakery will be even more official. Drunk Confections currently exists as an order and delivery/pick-up service, but Harrar has future plans to operate out of The Wine Pub in Shelter Island Village. Those plans are still in the works though, so you’ll want to keep an eye out.
