That address is technically in National City, but the official business name listed on the permit reads: “Crab Pub of Chula Vista.”

While their permit application is still in review by the county, the new Crab Pub restaurant appears to be taking the place of Hooters of Plaza Bonita in the Westfield Mall. Hooters announced their closure this past August, and the building has been vacant since.

Soon, Crab Pub will be moving into the nearly 7,000 square feet property and mixing up the menu with a range of Cajun classics.

Crab Pub’s original location can be found in Mid-City, on El Cajon Boulevard. There, they have been serving dishes like grilled oysters, fried shrimp, catfish and Cajun edamame.

The brand has not yet made a public announcement of the expansion, nor have they set an opening date. However, the application outlines that they plan to hold the same hours as their Mid-City location, from 12:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week. Crab Pub’s management team has not responded to What Now San Diego’s requests for comment.
