The company’s eighth location is set to move into the former home of Leucadia Valet. Co-owner Tiana Bard tells What Now San Diego that this location is expected to open in a few months. The news of another area location comes shortly after the company debuted San Diego in Pacific Beach at 910 Grand Ave #108, replacing Shake and Wake next to The Grass Skirt. When the new Encinitas location opens, customers can expect various acai bowls that are healthy and delicious.

Banzai Bowls is the brainchild of founder Joe Bard, who started making acai bowls at age 21. It didn’t take long before he turned his passion into a business and eventually opened a brick-and-mortar in Costa Mesa. The husband-and-wife team has since expanded to other parts of Orange County and Hawaii and has locations in San Clemente, Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, Sunset Beach, and Haleiwa Town. All locations offer different acai and pitaya bowls and fresh smoothies.

“We pride ourselves on the quality of everything we put into our bowls,” according to the company’s website. “Our honey is raw and sourced from a local bee farm. We offer superfoods like maca powder, bee pollen, and chia. Our peanut butter and almond butter is organic, nothing is GMO, and our açaí is not full of fillers, unlike other chains. If you’ve ever waited for a Banzai Bowl, you know we’re not fast food, and we’re proud of that. This is because nothing comes pre-packaged or pre-made. Each Banzai Bowl is created by hand – five hands, to be exact – in a multi-step process that takes a little time and a lot of love. The line can get long, but good things come to those who wait!”
