What Now San Diego spoke to Owner Bill Carter about what to expect from the new beer brand. “I’ve been homebrewing for 20-something years. I have my beer list already planned out,” explains Carter. Now the priority is getting the building ready for thirsty customers.

Carter has the opening beer list mapped out with IPAs, a light and dark Belgian Ale, a Blonde, and a Stout. “I’ve always been an IPA guy but I plan to serve up a variety of beers, for those who aren’t into IPAs,” shares Carter.

Although he’s working off a one-barrel system, Carter hopes to have eight beers to open with. Beer first: they won’t have a food element on-site but will bring in food trucks on Fridays and Saturdays once they’re open.

The brewery is still a work-in-progress but the project is coming together, targeting an opening by the end of the year. Follow along with the project and get to know Backyard Brewery on Instagram
